SUPPORT IS ENDING FOR SOME VERSIONS OF WINDOWS Microsoft will stop all security updates for Windows Vista without any service packs on April 13, 2010 and Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (SP2) on July 13, 2010. Security updates can "help protect your PC from harmful viruses, spyware, and other malicious software, which can steal your personal information. Windows Update also installs the latest software updates to improve the reliability of Windows—new drivers for your hardware and more. " Microsoft link here. Windows XP OEM Sales will end October 22, 2010. Mainstream support for Windows XP ended on April 14, 2009. Extended support for Windows XP will end on April 8, 2014.
We recommended Windows 7 for all new purchases. Overall performance and compatibility far exceeds Windows Vista. |
SECURITY UPDATES AND ANTI-VIRUS PROTECTION Getting started in Anti-Virus research and recovery in 1990, I have used and studied numerous products. While there is no 100% guarantee with any product, I find Kaspersky to be the best anti-virus product, to date, and use it on my personal computer. They have hourly updates (most have daily or weekly) and an Internet security edition with Parental Control features. Feel free to contact me for more information or pricing. |
